Simple Ways to Incorporate More Veggies into your Day
Eating vegetables is a great way to fuel your body with the nutrients it needs to function at its best. Veggies are a great source of high fiber carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals, and adding them to meals and snacks throughout the day will help fill you up without adding empty calories. They are an excellent replacement for processed carbs and can be incorporated in surprising ways all day long. Here are some ways to add veggies to your meals and snacks each day.
Breakfast
Add a handful of greens to your smoothie
1 big handful of spinach or kale
2 Tbsp almond butter
½ banana
1 cup frozen berries
2 Tbsp hemp seeds
1 scoop vital proteins collagen
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
Ice (if you don’t use frozen fruit)
Or, make individual frittatas filled with vegetables to make an easy, grab and go breakfast for your morning.
Lunch
Use a lettuce wrap instead of bread for your sandwich or wrap.
Make your favorite sandwich into a salad
Add roasted veggies to your whole grain serving
Dinner
Replace your regular pizza crust with a cauliflower crust
Use cauliflower rice instead of regular rice
Try a zucchini noodle instead of regular pasta, or spaghetti squash as an alternative to regular spaghetti.
Roast your meat over a bed of vegetables and them as an addition to your meal.
Snacks
Switch out processed snacks like chips and pretzels for chopped up veggies and hummus.
Make a yummy dip out of veggies, or a salsa packed with fruits and veggies.
