How to Start Your Day on a Healthy Note
Starting your day on a healthy note helps perpetuate healthy behavior all day long. Here are my quick tips for starting your day the healthiest.
Drink Water
First thing I do when I put my feet on the floor in the morning? Chug water. Keep a glass or a bottle (love this one) of water right next to your bed and drink at least 8 ounces first thing in the morning. Starting your day hydrated is a great way to get your system moving, jumpstart your day, and give your body the fuel it needs to run efficiently.
Eat Breakfast
Skipping breakfast can lead to being super hungry later on and increase the chances of overeating or grabbing something unhealthy throughout the day. Instead, grab something you know is healthy first thing in the morning. Starting your day with good quality fuel will give you sustained energy, keep your blood sugar stable, and help keep you on track the rest of the day.
Eat Protein, Fat, and High Fiber Carbs – Avoid Added Sugar
A breakfast packed full of protein, healthy fat, and high fiber carbs (like fruits, veggies or these crackers) is the best way to start the day for the most energy and stable blood sugars to void off cravings and blood sugar crashes all day long. Starting your day with a high sugar meal or beverage will only make you crave more sugar throughout the day and make it harder to avoid temptations.
Plan it out
Figure out what you’re going to have the night before so that you don’t have to worry about it in the morning. Make as much as you can ahead of time to keep your morning prep to a minimum. Set yourself up for a successful day.
