Inside Mind Your Metabolism, and in any of the work that I do with clients, we utilize a specific process to get people from where they are now to where they want to be. I take the guesswork out of transforming your health and give you the exact method you need.
In the last blog we talked all about how our thoughts and choices matter and how they shape our results, or our overall health and wellbeing.
This concept is so integral to the work that we do together that I have coined the process the CHOICE Blueprint. Let’s take a sneak peek at how I use this with clients, shall we?
CHOICE stands for
Clarity
Habits
Observation
Intention
Consistency
Evolution
Each step of this process is so vitally important to your overall transformation and healing. The basis of the blueprint is this: in order to know where you’re going, you have to know where you’re starting and then make choices that line up with the outcome you’re after.
Let’s break it down a little bit more.
Clarity
We always start with clarity. In order to know where you’re going, you need to know where you are now. This is where we establish a deep awareness of your starting point and then take time to visualize your goals.
A few questions I encourage my clients to ask themselves in this stage are:
What is my starting point? Where am I right now in my health, my life?
What are my goals and what do I want my life and health to look like 1, 3, 5 years from now?
What stories am I telling myself about how I got where I am right now?
Habits
Next, we uncover the daily choices that are keeping you stuck exactly where you are so that we can do something about it.
A few questions that help you figure this out are
What are my current habits in our 5 pillars of health (mindset, movement, diet, sleep, and stress)?
What do I need to stop doing to get me closer to my goals?
What do I need to start doing to take me closer to my goals?
What specific habits will take me from where I am now to where I want to be?
Observation
Then, we do the work to discover how your habits are impacting the results that you want. We talk through the direct outcome of each habit, how you feel when you do certain things, eat a certain way, think certain thoughts, etc. In our 1:1 work together, this is when we look at your labs and see what’s going on under the hood. We observe what’s happening in your body so we can figure out the best plan to help you feel better.
I encourage my clients to answer questions like
When I do (my current habit), I feel…
My current habit is impacting the results I want by…
If I change my habits and do things differently I feel…
Intention
This is when we define your new way of being, thinking, and doing things that are in line with the outcome that you want. If you want to run a marathon, for example, what steps would you need to take to get to the end goal of running a full marathon? This is the part where we put a specific plan in place.
Ask yourself
How am I going to bridge the gap between where I am now and where I want to be?
The new thoughts I am going to practice every day are…
I am making these changes because…
Consistency
This is when you commit to what you want and Do. The. Work. every single day, no matter what.
Do the work.
Even when it’s hard.
Even when you don’t want to.
Even when it’s going well.
Even when it doesn’t seem like it’s working.
Do. the. work.
Ask yourself
What is going to keep me from being consistent?
What excuses or circumstances have held me back in the past?
What am I going to do when things get hard?
Evolution
This is the time when you get to continue becoming the very best, healthiest, happiest version of you. Be willing to grow, to question your habits, to be wrong, to get it right, to succeed, and to fail. This life is a process, it’s not about arriving at a destination, it’s about enjoying the journey to get there and working hard to be the best, healthiest, happiest version of you as you go.
Always continue to ask yourself
Once I reach my goal, how am I going to continue challenging myself to grow?
What will I learn about myself if I fail?
What will I learn about myself if I succeed?
And that’s it, my friends, that’s the secret sauce. Well, at least a little taste of it anyway. The real juice is inside Mind Your Metabolism and our 1:1 work together.
And here’s the thing about this process. It works. This depth of digging and discomfort and discipline to learn about yourself, get reacquainted with who you are, what you want, and rebuild a level of trust with yourself and your body is so worth it.
There’s freedom on the other side that I want for you. Freedom to love, trust, and heal your body, freedom from food noise, diets, rules, and restriction, freedom from symptoms that are signals from your body that something isn’t right, and freedom to live your life to the healthiest and happiest. That’s what I want for you, and that’s what you deserve.
