Maybe You're Out Of Alignment Because You're Out Of Alignment.

Here’s a fundamental truth about our bodies:  Our bodies and minds are always seeking balance.

When balance is achieved we feel peace, calm, resilient, and optimized healing.

When we’re out of balance in some way, our bodies are going to tell us.  We might hear that message in the form of symptoms - sleep disruptions, gut issues, weight gain, fatigue, and so on.

The biggest things that impact whether or not we’re in balance?  Our daily habits.

It’s not the things you do once in a while that make or break you, it’s the things you do repeatedly that matter most.  It’s the habits you have put in place, sometimes over years, that greatly impact the state of your health.

I realize that talking about your daily habits really isn’t all that exciting, cool, catchy, or sexy.  But, oh well.  It’s just the simple truth.  What you eat, what you think, and what you do every single day matters the most.

I got a massage recently from the most amazing massage therapist at The Healing Sanctuary in Exton (shoutout to Hillary, she’s truly the best).  When I got there she asked how my body was feeling - I told her everything felt crooked, out of alignment, and just off.  Then she said, “and how’s your life?” And I just started laughing.

Because yes, certain parts of life feel pretty out of alignment at the moment too.  So she simply looked at me and said, “well, do you think you feel out of alignment because you are out of alignment?”  And it was like a big lightbulb went off.  I knew this already, but hearing someone else say it was exactly what I needed.

When you’re out of balance, you feel it.  It shows up in other parts of your life, it manifests in your body.  And your body is going to tell you.

The next logical step once you realize something is off kilter is to decide what to do about it.  Are you going to continue doing the things that got you out of whack in the first place and will keep you there?  Or, are you going to make some changes and create new habits that will undo what’s been done?

Because here’s the thing…

You can’t heal in the same environment that got you where you are.

You can’t continue to make the same choices and expect a different outcome.

You can’t continue the same habits that led to your symptoms and expect them to go away.

You can’t continue to eat the same junk, drink too much, neglect your sleep, run yourself into the ground, and expect to lose weight.

Something has to change.

My encouragement is this- start small.  Decide what your end goal is.  Whether that’s losing weight, gaining energy, healing your gut symptoms, or whatever.  And then write a list of a few habits that someone who has already achieved those things does every day.  Then, put a few habits into place.

You don’t have to do everything at once, but just start somewhere.  Commit to those habits every single day.  Make them non-negotiables in your daily routine.

If you want more energy it could be a few simple habits such as going to bed by 10pm, drinking a daily mineral mocktail, and getting outside for some sunlight first thing in the morning.  Those 3 simple habits could begin changing everything (and ⅔ of them are absolutely free).

If you want to lose weight, maybe it’s making sure you eat 30 grams of protein at breakfast, walking for 30 minutes after lunch, and committing to not drinking any sugary beverages.

The thing with breaking old habits and making new ones is this - first, you have to be aware of what you’re doing and how it’s impacting your health, and then you have to decide to change it.  You have to make a choice to set an intention around the new, realistic habit and hold yourself accountable to be consistent and committed to seeing it through, even when you don’t want to.

And that’s the process with walk through in our CHOICE blueprint inside Mind Your Metabolism.

Sometimes you need a little help getting where you want to go and making changes that will have a huge impact on your health. And like me, sometimes you need someone to tell you exactly what you needed to hear, even if you kind of already knew it.

That’s what I’m here for, to help you see how your habits are impacting your health and guide you along the way as you create new habits that will help you optimize your metabolism, shift your mindset, and transform your health.
